Switching from another app

Can I bring my tasks and events from another app?

Yes. Jotslate imports from Apple Reminders and Apple Calendar on your iPhone, and from files you’ve exported from Todoist, TickTick, Google, Notion and other apps. Imported tasks and events land in Jotslate like anything you jot, so you can change them with a tap.

Does importing cost anything?

No. Import is free on every plan, and so is exporting. Jotslate Pro adds Apple Reminders sync, which keeps jotted tasks in a Reminders list with completion in step, and shows your Apple calendars in the Calendar tab.

Can I take my data with me later?

Yes. Tap your photo at the top right to open your profile, then Export all data. You get one file with everything in it, whenever you like.

Is Jotslate connected to those apps?

No. Todoist, TickTick, Google and Notion are trademarks of their owners, and Jotslate isn’t affiliated with them. Importing reads what you choose to bring in, and your notes stay on your iPhone.

Sorting

How does Jotslate decide what a line is?

It reads each line for days, times, repeats and words like “remind me”, then makes it a task, reminder, event, habit or progress log. A heading like “thursday” applies to the lines under it, and a list on one line, like “groceries: eggs, oat milk”, becomes one task per item. Lines that are just thoughts stay in the note as written.

Something was sorted wrong. How do I fix it?

Tap the item under the line to change its type, day, time, alerts or repeat, or tap × to remove it. Your changes stick: if you sort the jot again, anything you edited or completed is kept.

To help us improve sorting, use Fix this sort to send us that one line and what it should have been. Nothing else from your jot is sent.

Can I tell Jotslate exactly what a line is?

Yes. Use Type, Day, Alert, Repeat and List above the keyboard, or tag the line. #event, #task, #reminder, #habit and #log set its type, a tag like #work files it in a list, and #note keeps it as a thought.

Do I need Apple Intelligence?

No. On iPhones without it, Jotslate sorts with its offline rules, and with Jotslate Cloud for up to 10 of your 25 free AI sorts, or every sort with Jotslate Pro. To choose an engine yourself, open Profile (your photo, top right), then Sorting.

What happens when my free AI sorts run out?

Your jots still save, and the offline rules sort them. The free plan includes 25 AI sorts over a rolling 30 days, so they come back as older ones age out. Profile shows how many are left.

Notifications and alerts

I’m not getting notifications.

Check the Settings app on your iPhone, under Notifications, then Jotslate. Focus, Low Power Mode and Scheduled Summary can also hold notifications back. In Jotslate, Settings shows a note if notifications are off, and Send a test notification checks that they arrive.

How do I set more than one alert?

Write it in the line, like “remind me the night before and 15 min before”, “the morning of”, “remind me 1 hour before” or “notify me at 4pm”. Write “no alert” to skip one. You can also use Alert above the keyboard, or add and change alerts on the item itself.

An event didn’t alert me.

Events you’ve marked done skip their alerts. Otherwise, check the event’s alerts and your notification settings. Notifications depend on iOS, so your iPhone being off or iOS limits on scheduled notifications can delay them.

Can I change the default times?

Yes. Under Notifications in Profile, set a default reminder time, a default event alert, habit reminders, a morning summary and how long Snooze lasts.

Widgets and Live Activities

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit, then add Jotslate. Choose Today, Up Next, Habits or Quick Jot. Every widget is free, and you can check off tasks and log habits right from it.

A widget looks out of date.

Jotslate refreshes its widgets whenever something changes. If one still looks behind, open Jotslate once; iOS decides how often widgets redraw.

How do I start a Live Activity?

Live Activities come with Jotslate Pro. Open an event to start its countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. For a Focus, open a task and add it, or start one from Profile under Live Activities and pick up to 5 tasks.

My Live Activity doesn’t show.

Check that Live Activities are allowed for Jotslate in the Settings app on your iPhone. If your Jotslate Pro has ended, new ones can’t start and running ones end the next time the app refreshes them.

Purchases

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the Jotslate Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases, using the same Apple Account you bought with. Pro comes back on any iPhone signed in to that account.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. In Jotslate, Manage subscription takes you to the same place. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles all refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What happens to my notes if Pro ends?

Nothing is deleted, and every note stays readable and editable. The free limits apply again; the pricing page has the details.

Your data

Where are my notes stored?

On your iPhone, and in your iPhone’s backups according to your iOS settings. We don’t keep a copy, so we can’t recover notes for you if your iPhone is lost without a backup. Jotslate doesn’t sync between devices at the moment.

How do I export my data?

Tap your photo at the top right to open your profile, then Export all data. You get one file with everything in it.

How do I delete my data?

In your profile, tap Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes what it stored on your iPhone; older copies can remain in your backups until they’re replaced.

We have nothing tied to your name. For cloud sorts, our server keeps a random install ID, the model and the time for 60 days, to enforce plan limits. To have your problem reports deleted, write to hello@jotslate.app.

Can I turn off the anonymous usage events?

Yes: Profile, then Share anonymous usage. The events never contain what you write; the privacy policy lists what they include.

Jotslate Cloud

What is Jotslate Cloud?

Our sorting server. It sends your jot to Anthropic’s Claude API to sort it, then returns the result to your iPhone. Jotslate Pro tries it first. On the free plan it’s used on iPhones without Apple Intelligence, for up to 10 sorts every 30 days.

What’s sent, and what’s kept?

The jot’s text, the current date and time zone, your default reminder time and the names of your habits, over an encrypted connection. The text of your jot isn’t stored, and Anthropic’s terms don’t allow it to train on it. The privacy policy explains the few records we keep to enforce limits.

How do I turn it off?

Open Profile, then Sorting, and choose On-device (Apple Intelligence) or Offline rules. Nothing leaves your iPhone with either.
